Frequently Asked Questions

How much money will solar save me?

Every situation is different. Getting solar will not necessarily mean you have a $0 electricity bill. Adding solar is just one mechanism of energy management. The amount of money you save with solar depends on various factors such as the size of your solar system, your energy usage patterns, local electricity rates, available incentives or rebates, and the financing options you choose. It’s essential to have a professional solar installer assess your specific situation to provide an accurate estimate of your potential savings. While some homeowners may achieve significant savings and even eliminate their electricity bills with solar, others may see more modest savings. However, investing in solar typically provides long-term financial benefits, including protection against rising energy costs and potential increases in home value.

Should I get a battery?

There are many reasons to incorporate a battery in your electrical system. People who are not at home during the day typically have high ‘shoulder’ loads i.e 6am – 8am and 5pm – 8pm. The benefits of solar are wasted on the exceptionally low retailer feed-in-tariffs. This energy is better served charging a battery for use when the consumer is at home.

This is a load-shifting battery, the cheapest type of battery infrastructure and is an excellent investment for city-dwellers with a stable grid supply. For those who live where the grid is less reliable, a battery that will power loads during a grid failure, otherwise known as back-up loads or an uninterrupted power supply (UPS). These batteries cost more, but you have the benefits of energy assurance and energy independence. Deciding which is best for you and your budget is the first step.
